"We're like waves in an ocean – appearing separate, but in truth, we're one connected being. You can't hurt someone else without hurting yourself.” - MJ Walker
Growing up in the small town of Vermillion, South Dakota, Michael Walker co-founded the band Paradise Fears with high school classmates.
Leveraging their talents for grassroots marketing, the 6 teenagers set out following other bands' tours and promoting to fans standing in line. They sold 24,000 CDs, built a dedicated fanbase, and set off on tour across the US and overseas.
Paradise Fears released their sophomore album Battle Scars in 2013, reaching the #2 Alternative album on iTunes charts. They’ve since released music videos amassing over 14 million views on YouTube, 11 million streams on Spotify/iTunes, and performed live for hundreds of thousands of fans worldwide.
In 2016, finding himself with more to say in his own voice, Michael decided to branch out as a solo artist while maintaining his role as keyboardist in Paradise Fears.
Displaying influences from Jack's Mannequin, The Beatles, and Death Cab for Cutie, "The Shift EP" is a collection of introspective, catchy pop songs that reveal a story of spiritual awakening.
MJ embarked on his first ever solo tour in the summer of 2016, playing intimate shows in fans' living rooms all across the United States.
Much like the grassroots efforts of his early days, he stays connected with his “Inner Circle” members by sharing exclusive songs and livestream performances every month.
